Welcome to Holmes United Methodist Church! We’re located in Holmes, Town of Pawling, midway between the Hudson River Valley and Connecticut, in eastern Dutchess County. (Need directions?) Holmes is a congregation of almost 100 members actively seeking to discover what it means to live and work together as people of God.
We’d love to have you visit with us this Sunday. Our Worship service begins at 10:30AM. Sunday School runs concurrently with the service, during the school year. We have a monthly fellowship time following the service for visiting over coffee, juice, and snacks. We’d love to get to know you
If you live in the Dutchess/Putnam area or are thinking about moving here, explore our site and see if Holmes might become your church home! What do United Methodists believe? Read about Our United Methodist Beliefs.

The Holmes United Methodist Church is a welcoming community, rooted in God’s love, seeking to grow through faith in Christ. Mindful of our heritage, we trust in the Holy Spirit as we embrace the future. We are committed to nurturing spiritual growth, reaching out in service, and extending God’s grace to all.
Our congregation was organized in 1766, meeting in private homes and schoolhouses. The present church was built in 1853. John Reynolds, a Methodist circuit rider, became the congregation’s first pastor, serving up to seventeen other congregations. Over the years, our church’s name has changed along with that of the hamlet: Campbell’s Creek, Reynoldsville, and Holmes.
